The Story of Private Elmer Peter McInroy
1 min readAt the young age of 18, Elmer started his
venture as a Canadian Soldier by training
in Orillia until the time of his deployment
to the British Isles (Scotland was in the
winds) which he did not know at the time,
this would be almost 3 years serving the
Canadian Army overseas. his job detail was
a duty mechanic, chauffee and he delivered
ammunition and supplies to the front lines
in battle. It was a frightening Journey.

June 6th 1944 – At the
Battle of Normandy
June 6th 1944 the Canadian troops lost
many lives to take over the beaches of Sword
and Juno, defeating the German Fortresses
and Beach Heads in their direct path.
